My Free Guide to Giveaways

Published: Fri, 11/15/13

Hello,

I just published a new Guide on FPTraffic, but I thought I'd email it to you too because it's been one the key ingredients in how I've made money from my Facebook Pages over the past few years and I appreciate the support you've given me through my blog.

Giveaways Drive Engagement
I do a giveaway on at least one of my Facebook Pages about once a week. The prize is usually pretty cheap, but I have found that there are a few different benefits to giving away something:

1. It drives engagement (Likes, comments, and shares)
2. It builds trust
3. It makes you money
4. It provides future content (that can also make you money)

Let's take a look at each benefit.

It drives engagement
This should be pretty self explanatory, but here is a screenshot of a giveaway I did last week:
Post a good photo of whatever you are going to give away (I usually do shirts for my entertainment Pages) and use a description enticing the user to click "Like" to participate in the giveaway:

Click "Like" to be entered to win this awesome shirt!

Telling people to click "Like" (especially when there's an incentive to) can lead to an explosion of Likes. The people who are entering your drawing are also likely to share your post with their friends or at least comment and tag their friend telling them to check it out.

It builds trust
At first people may be apprehensive about your giveaway and think it's a scam (there are a lot of those going around on Facebook after all), but if your only requirement is them pressing Like then that seems pretty innocent.

Once you choose a winner and contact them to collect their prize (I will usually use Amazon and just send them a gift card so they can buy themselves the shirt without them having to give me their personal information besides their email) ask them to send you a picture with the prize once they receive it. Most people will be happy to do it. Then, you can post a picture of them with the prize on your Page which will build trust within the community that you aren't a scammer.

It makes you money
No matter what your Page is about it's likely that there is a product that relates to it on Amazon. Amazon (especially during the holiday season) is one of my favorite sources to monetize my Pages. So, when I pick a product to give away I'll usually find it on Amazon. Then, when I make my post about the giveaway I'll include a link to buy the product and of course that link is my Amazon affiliate link.

With most of my giveaways I will make more money from selling the product I am giving away than the cost of the giveaway!

Plus, when you make your post with the picture of the winner with the prize they won from your Page you can link again to the product page and generate more sales. I've had a few pretty girls send me a picture of themselves wearing the shirt they'd won in my giveaway and have the post with them wearing the shirt with a link to buy it get more engagement than the actual giveaway post!

It provides future content
I have been hinting at this the whole time, but real people (especially fans of your Page) wearing or holding the products you are trying to sell is probably the best content you can find to actually sell the product. You can repost a picture of someone that won a drawing when you announce your next drawing (quickly creating trust with your users) and use it to generate sales just by showing everyone your winner.

There are many different ways you can monetize your Facebook Pages once you have built up a good community and by doing giveaways you're not only providing great value to your community, but you're also driving more engagement, building trust, creating good content, and most important of all, actually making money!

Let's make some money!
